Perissa
Perissa is a village on the island of Santorini, Greece.
It is located 13 km southeast of Fira, in the shadow of the imposing Mesa Vouno, which separates it from Kamari.
Perissa has wonderful beaches in Aegean, including Perissa Beach itself. It belongs to Emporio community. There, there are the remains of the ancient early Christian church of Agia Irini. Its conventional form is the current name of the island, Santorini.
It has a long black sand beach which stretches across the neighboring municipalities of Perivolos (Perivolos) and Agios Georgios (Agios Georgios) with an almost continuous line of bars, hotels and restaurants alongside the beach. The coastal road stretches along the entire length of the beach, covering the entire southeastern coastline of Thira. The area is dominated by the temple of Timios Stavros, the largest temple in Thira, with 5 domes and an elaborate bell tower that was reconstructed at the initiative of the Pantheraic Union, after it was destroyed by the earthquakes of 1956.
For those of you who love walking, there is the path to Mesa Vouno. You will reach the chapel called Hamilos Prophet Ilias and from there you will see a view that will take your breath away! Another walk is to Panagia Katefiani, the church built into the rock between Perissa and Mesa Vouno.
